It's still in beta, but it looks like the BBC is having another bash at having some sort of cultural subsite tucked away where nobody can find it, just so it can say it caters for all. Here you go: BBC Books. There's not much there at the moment, but it's still being developed. Now if only they could get rid of that awful The Book Quiz tie-in, it might be halfway to somewhere.

Not exactly over-populated with information at the monet is it? Ah well, fingers crossed it goes somewhere.

The Book Quiz is awful. I was watching it at the weekend on On Demand and it irritated me on myriad levels. Not least the bloody smugness of Giles bloody Coren (but then that isn't a complaint limited to The Book Quiz).

I like The Book Quiz, if only because it feeds my addiction to shouting answers at the tellybox and feeling smug.

And if you want 'smug', try watching Daisy Goodwin without vomiting blood.
