Default 2008 Resolutions

Not that I'm big on these, but I really feel something needs to be done about my increasing lack of self discipline! So:

1. No more new book purchases 'til I've read at least a third of my TBR pile.

2. See more of my mother

3. Practice my French more

4. Be more consistent with my evening walks-far too easy to make the weather an excuse not to in the winter.

5. Get more sleep.

We'll see how it goes.

Well my resolutions for 2008 are simple: I want to get physically fit (muscles). I will lose weight because I having gastric by-pass surgery on January 7th, 2008.

I also want to meet my reading goals- list of books for 2008.

Those two resolutions are the major ones for me.

Learn Spanish - I've been here six months and learnt about as many words.

Get Fit - Not been to the gym for over a month, and it's only eight doors down... that is criminal.

Finish writing Book Two (I think that was last year's, unfortunately... ) and send it off

Lose some more weight (doing okay so far)

Buy as few books as possible - catch up with my bookshelves, and use the library order service more.

Oh and also...I have this fantastic story in my head that I want to write down. My goal is do much research on the subject(s) in the story and write a first draft. I want to take my time with this project. The story came to me in a dream; I am very glad that I wrote (typed) it down when I awoke. I feel others will enjoy it.

My main reading goal for 2008 is to complete my Olympic Challenge I took up two years ago over at Bookcrossing. The idea is to read one book per country that participates in the Olympic Games. Out of 204 nations, I have done 168. Of the 36 left, a handful will be covered by online articles, since that's all we can find in translation.

Another reading goal is for me to read aloud more to my kids. I've gotten lax in my dedication in that regard and want to get back on the wagon.

Third reading goal: Include at least a tiny review of the books I like or strongly dislike. I'm hoping to use my goodreads account to that end.(I'm Vicki over there).

Mine are:

1. Like many people here, stop buying as many books till I get through some of Mount TBR

2. Eat more healthily (and therefore lose weight) although I'm trying to think about it less it terms of weight loss than about eating better food.

3. Paint the spare room.

4. Sort out the garden. It's a mini-wilderness out there.
