. . ."geographically" close to Animal Farm, you say: How about Watership Down, by Richard Adams? (I'm taking 'geography' pretty loosely here, I guess, but it's all I've got.)

Sorry forgot I wrote that. No, "Animal Farm" was number 8 not 7, that's what I meant... duh-me.

Time for some new clues I think. Number 2 I'm not going to help y'all with, but let's get the cryptics out of the way.
