I think the value is different for everyone. For me, one of the biggest attractions is that I can be taken away from the mundane, and into someone else's world. I may sound like a depressive with that statement, but I'm not - the glass is 3/4 full!

And JS, I know we haven't met, but I picture you as a people person!

amner, are you not joining us for this one after all? I see your signature says currently reading: deciding.

Other likely takers were JfP and ono.

No pressure, of course!

Since the next book - Dr Haggard's Disease - isn't 'open' for discussion until Aug 7th, there's plenty of time for anyone at all who fancies joining in this read in the next few weeks and beyond: I've still got Dance Dance Dance at the bottom of the decreasing pile of books by my bed and will, one day, add my thoughts to that Book Group thread.

I've just returned from a month-long trip in Europe and am happy to see that the Book Group is on again. I loved Judith Hearne and was sorry to miss the discussion (no easy computer/Internet access where I was).

I wonder if there is still time to read the Toibin or is the discussion about over by now. Perhaps I should just start with the August read...

Either way, I'd like to join the Book Group for the next few reads, all of which sound excellent.

There's plenty of time 'officially' left to discuss the Toibin, Megora, and welcome back We don't start discussing the McGrath until the 1st day of August, and even then any thoughts and contributions to any of the book group threads are more than welcome.

I think anyone can add to this discussion at any time. I don't consider it closed, anyway. In other words, please do Megora!

No, quite right, Ang; we don't close book group reads. We move on to another book, but we don't close the ones we've discussed.
