How close to Arizona are you, Paul? I only ask because I've recently written a short story which is set in the Mohave Valley. Have you ever been there? I would love to visit there.

I'm in Denver so it's probably a good 7 or 8 hour drive to the Arizona border and still a fair distrance from there to the desert itself . I've been in the Las Vegas area and have driven through other parts of the desert on trips to California. It's absolutely beautiful (and more than a little daunting, as well). You should definitely visit if you get the chance.

Yes, I definitely hope to one day. That part of the world is unreal. I envy you.

Rub it in, why don't ya! My genes are more at home in your lovely climes, not too hot, not too cold, just right. Only the chosen few...

I don't know if it made the news globally, but a mad scientist ignited the atmosphere over south central Madrid this week. Apparently.

Now we're getting the fallout, that bit of water at the bottom of a fire-bottle experiment. Thank the heavens.

Same in Marrakech, just a bit more extreme. With sandstorms.

I agree Beth, although the last time I voiced similar sentiment around here I was promptly given an earful about appreciating Colorado (which I very much do).

After three days of heat but no sunshine, we have concluded with a horrendous thunderstorm, torrential rain and lightening strikes around hereabouts. Probably more to come
