Default Resolutions 2006

Here are mine:

* Lose weight - all the good work of last year has been undone, sadly

* Get some focus - my butterfly mind has been going into overdrive recently

* Read more seriously - less messing about with stopping and starting books all the time

* Spend more time working when I am at work, and less time Palimping

* Maybe attempt some writing, and again try actually sticking to it.

Hmmm. I think the second one seems to be a bit of the theme throughout the rest, to be honest.

* Get slimmer and fitter. Oh woes!

* Find the agent/publisher who really 'gets' my book the way everyone else does, dang and blast it!

* Finish Book Two and have a good/inspiring idea for another book.

* Ditto Wavid's resolution - do more serious reading and read more seriously; slightly fewer YA books and more classics would be good.

* Plant something in our vegetable patch.

I think that's enough to be going on with.

* Go out more, meet someone.
* Be a better employee. Throughout the whole last year I had terrible problems with concentration, and the effect is visible. So far my boss has been very understanding but I think I'm close to the point when people stop thinking you have "difficult time" but start thinking you are just lazy and incompetent.
* Lose some weight is my constant new year resolution, but right now maybe more important for me is not to gain weight. I lost 14 kg last year, so to keep this like that is ok. (14 kg may sound impressive, but in fact I put on weight terribly in the first months after returning from the States, so I am now my usual size.)

Oh resolutions....

- first and foremost get trim for my sister's wedding (have bridesmaids dress) and hopefully find more enjoyment than pain in excercise in order to stay trim after my sister's wedding!

- sketch and draw more. I am full of ambition to actually sell some of my artwork, in order to do this, I actually have to produce some!

- as with others more work and less palimping at work! so dull, but oh well!

- get off my backside and go see my old college friends, I fear loosing them through laziness.

- read the book group books - as well as all the others on my shelves.

2006 has such promise from here.

Hear, hear. You're not in England currently, are you?

Don't you ever let-up with your bunny-like optimism?

Ah Notty, I'm afraid not very much. Do I infuriate you beyond belief?!

(I was sort of being sarcastic too, but I guess that didn't really make it across!)

Oh well, that's all right then. But just be careful, I'm not cutting you too much more slack on this issue.

Well I'd better add a resolution then...

- become dour and serious and bereft of all optimism.

(I think I shall fail miserably on this count, I should let you know this now!)

After many years of practice (and having done this resolution thing many more times than any of you, I'd be willing to wager), I have reduced my list down to these three words:

Be here now

Sounds simple, doesn't it?

Please do swing by TBF for the birthday party.
