Default Never Encountered; the fate of the unseen character

In books, radio and telly the unseen character is a well-used dramatic/comedic staple. Can you add to this list?:

Mrs Columbo (Columbo)
Maris Crane (Frasier, Niles's wife)
Mrs Mainwaring (Dad's Army, the redoubtable and terrifying Elizabeth)
Charlie Farnsbarnes (Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh)
...
...

"In her spare time, Samantha likes nothing more than to peruse old record shops. She particularly enjoys a rewarding poke in the country section."

Bunbury from The Importance of Being Ernest

I though Mrs Columbo actually appeared in one episode, but I appear to be wrong.

Did She Who Must Be Obeyed ever actually appear in Rumpole?
