Nicholas Sparks writes romantic novels. I would have thought, given your penchant for Penny Vincenzi, you may have heard of him.

Evanovich, herself a romance writer of sorts, penned the Stephanie Plum novels.

Hm, I was sure I replied to this 15 minutes ago.

You'll have seen her books in the crime section, amner. Bright covers. One for the Money. Two for the Dough. Etc etc up to (I think) Fourteen now.

Isn't Sparks the Horse Whisperer chap who ate some dodgy mushrooms lately?

I bloody won't, you know! You've finally got me reading more respectable titles, you bugger. And anyway, they sound awful.

He's responsible for the latest Richard Geer slushfest, Nights in Rodanthe, isn't he?

I thought Sparks was The Notebook and Message in a Bottle bloke. I think THW is Nicholas Evans. (I could be wrong). But TN and MIAB are romantic tearjerkers I think, both of which have been filmed. I haven't seen them I hasten to add, not my cup of char.

James Patterson and Tom Clancy are 'brand' authors - they let other writers and ghosts publish under their name. I wonder if those are the sums they take home, or the sums they share with their collaborators?
