I would also probably put several of these in my top 10. When it comes to Bjork, I might put either Post or Homogenic at the top but Medulla is also excellent.

As I've mentioned to you before, I love that Wild Mood Swings is your favorite album by The Cure. I didn't know what to make of it when it was first released but it has definitely grown on me over the years.

Slight change as I rediscover an album I bloody love and can't believe I ever forgot: In A Bar, Under The Sea by dEUS. Rediscovering it now.

I ousted Ende Neu by Einst├╝rzende Neubauten. On reflection, it's an album I like and a few tracks that stand out - like Stella Maris - however In A Bar, Under The Sea has more tracks by volume, and therefore more tracks that stand out. Plus, dEUS were the first band I ever saw live.

In A Bar, Under The Sea is a classic. Worst Case Scenario has some good tracks too.

My top ten albums:

1 - Islands by Mike Oldfield
2 - Original Masters / The Steeleye Span Story by Steeleye Span
3 - Scheherazade and Other Stories by Renaissance
4 - Ummagumma by Pink Floyd
5 - The Wall by Pink Floyd
6 - You Had to Be There by Jimmy Buffett
7 - Transverse City by Warren Zevon
8 - Glass Houses by Billy Joel
9 - A Question of Balance by the Moody Blues
10 - Synchronicity by the Police

I've edited this list extensively as my memory brings up albums which have given me much pleasure. Two, Original Masters and You Had to Be There, are compilations of work from previous albums, and while not proper theme albums, give the listener a broad selections of the artists best work to the date the albums were released.

If I had to choose a single original studio album from Steeleye Span, it'd be Below the Salt, but that's got serious competition from Rocket Cottage and at least six other albums released from 1970 to 1976.

Honorable mentions abound:
- A Farewell to Kings by Rush (with much competition from the rest of their albums except 2112, which, frankly, sucked).
- everything the Moody Blues released from 1967 (their second album, Days of Future Passed) to 1972 (Seventh Sojourn), then resuming after 1981 (Long Distance Voyager).to date.
- similarly, Billy Joel made numerous splendid albums from 1971 to 1999 - I chose Glass Houses not for its hits (not that many, actually) but because the album had so many good songs, few of which got the airplay they deserved.
- The Doobie Brothers would have been represented in a "Top Twenty Albums"
- as would Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina, or at least one album by Kenny Loggins (the Top Gun soundtrack, with three Loggins songs, "Highway to the Danger Zone" being stellar and still getting plenty of air play here in the States).
- Joni Mitchell's "Court and Spark"
- Kd lang's "Constant Craving"
- Jimmy Buffett made several great theme albums, Son of a Son of a Sailor and Somewhere over China especially good, and is the king of tour albums, of which You Had to Be There and One Particular Harbour are distillations of their respective eras in Buffett's career.
I'll spare you the tedium that'd result from my going on....
