Fables and Reflections (Sandman 6) and half of Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman. Daughter Number One bought the other half, and that's all our Christmas money gone.

Oh, and a Hudl tablet.

and Whitaker's Paperbacks Reference Catalogue 1960.

Yep. Christmas money all spent.

Purchased from eBay for £1.31 and delivered today: some 160 odd issues of Photoplay film magazines in original ringbinders - basically nearly all of the 70s and a great chunk of the 80s. About 10p per magazine after postage. I am one happy chappy.

The Troop - Nick Cutter. I don't normally read thrillers or horror, but 'Nick Cutter' is the pseudonym of Craig Davidson who was shortlisted for last year's Giller Prize. I liked that book (Cataract City) a lot, so will be interested to see what this one is like.

More for the Pan bookshelf. None as groovy as Elwood's Murder City cover. The Christina Brand is from 1948

I found that book started well, it was tense and interesting, but it finished a little implausibly... What do I mean 'a little'? A lot implausibly, and somehow unsatisfactorily.

I've read a few Oldfields - my mother used to enjoy them. I even read The Black Virgin last year. The Bony series are well plotted and use Bony's superpowers very credibly.
