In my experience it depends how long they've been in your drawer at work.

They're legally cakes. Honest.

Normal I'd say the same, but a tiny soft-centred part of me feels sympathy.

Here's their logo:

...and here's the one causing the fuss:

I can kind of see why Cadbury's might feel the pinch.

EDIT: I was just looking at this BBC News article about a snake fossil with legs and was delighted to notice that the volume control on the embedded media link goes up to 11!

Anyway, a moment of seriousness: this looks like good news.

And a moment of less so: this looks like good clean fun.

A Cadbury's spokesman said: "Darrell Lea has been trying to pass off their chocolate as our chocolate."

Practically indistinguishable from a bar of Dairy Milk, I'm sure you'll agree.

I don't think the point is the colour so much. Look on the shelves of most supermarkets and you'll see their own brand milk chocolate wrapped in purple and their dark chocolate in red. They don't think people are short sighted enough to pick theirs up mistaking it for Cadbury's either. What they try to do is send out an almost subliminal message, the chocolate is wrapped in a imilar colour to Cadbury's, therefore Cadbury's must be supplying this cheaper own brand stuff to the supermarkets, so what's the point of buying the real thing when it's exactly the same stuff.* Quite clever really.

*I am reliably informed that it isn't.

Hey, stop parroting the company line!

Really though, that allegation from the Cadbury spokesman (which is a direct quote) is insane, and practically actionable in itself. 'Passing off' is a tort, or civil wrong, so it's quite a serious accusation.

Anyway Darrell Lea has been going since 1927, so it's hardly a new kid on the block trying to ride on Cadbury's coattails.

Whereas some of the cheaper stuff is considerably better than Cadbury's

Nou posts 4 stories: one about an important palaeontological discovery, one about the lifting of censorship in a repressive country, another about local perverts for local people - and what's the one that grabs our attention? Chocolate. I love this group.

Anything is better than Cadbury's and that includes Scotbake cooking chocolate.
