Default Yet another top 10

These lists are never the same from one minute to the next, depending on weather, psychic state, level of inebriation etc. So...... stone cold sober on a Friday morning in no particular order of merit;

Albums.
1. Otis Redding - Otis Blue.
Soul, blues, that voice.

2. Stones - Exile on Main Street.
Thimply the betht.

3. Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground and Nico.
Such a stupidly influential band.

4. Smiths - Strangeways here we come.
When Morrissey was good and Marr was visible.

5. Clash - London calling.
The best from the most consistent punk band, plus they were brilliant live.

6. Free - Fire and water.
If only for the bass on Mr Big.

7. Led Zeppelin - II.
They had to be in there.

8. New Order - Get Ready.
Brilliant album after 20 years of same. Rock the Shack with Bobby Gillespie!!!

9. Neil Young - Freedom
Almost a random pick from the work of the man whose output would be my desert island discs if I could only pick one person.

10. REM - Fables of the Reconstruction.
The one that started to break them big. Driver 8.

Singles.

1. Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit.
An aural blast when I thought I was too old to get hit like that any more.

2. Stones - Satisfaction.
Why not.

3. Otis Redding - My Girl.
Because I was a wimpy 14 year-old.

4. Wall of Voodoo - Mexican Radio.
(I wish I was in Tijuana, eating barbecued iguana)

5. Animals - It's my life.
Great song from a great singles band, and Eric Burdon had a real voice.

6. Jesus and Mary Chain - Sidewalking.
Noise.

7. Marvin Gaye - I heard it through the grapevine.
The best intro ever.

8. Bronski Beat - Smalltown boy.
Who'd be a gay Scots teenager.

9. Kinks - Set me free
A gloomy riff from the original riff band.

10. Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK.
Get pissed, destroyyyyyyy.

Driver 8?! You chose Driver 8. Absolutely top man, well done. I remember going to the MacAlpine in Huddersfield shouting myself hoarse requesting that. But did they? Did they buggery.

Welcome aboard, Hucko.

Default Top list!

Some absolutes classics in there; aye, I'd gladly play a compilation out of that lot. Top stuff
