No it isn't. Though I am increasingly unsure that my answer is right, since I am now pretty sure that my source (the BBC) got it from Wikipedia.

BiNS, well, sort of, thematically and possibly in one other way.

Daveybot, no: in fact I Wish It Could be Christmas Every Day didn't get to number 2, just to number 4. Slade's Merry Christmas Everybody (which I think is what you refer to as Here It Is, Merry Christmas) won the battle that year.

Gosh, only number 4? Well, there you go. I just wondered if it might be a popular Christmas song because they tend to sell again and again every year.

Probably, although for the purposes of the question I think it refers to sales during the (initial) release which got the song in question to number 2.
