Andrea Levy, whose award-winning novel Small Island has been chosen for the first Glasgow citywide reading project, Small Island Read 2007, linking Glasgow to Bristol, Hull and Liverpool, appears at Aye Write! 13,000 free copies of Small Island will be distributed through The Herald and city libraries as part of the project.
The full article is here and, while I won't be getting a free copy, I think I'll be getting along to the festival (16th to 25th Feb) this year since it's a mere bus ride for me. But I wish they would make these things at night. I know it's Glasgow but not everyone is an unemployed waste of space or doddery old bugger with nothing to do of a day.

Downloaded the pdf from www.ayewrite.com. Phoned the booking hotline and they have no tickets for sale! Does anyone know when the tickets go on sale - I can't find anything on the website.

Lizzy, have you had any joy getting tickets for Aye Write? I fancy a few of the events - AL Kennedy, William Boyd and, possibly, Rachel Seiffert.

I've drawn a complete and utter blank. Has anyone solved the conundrum yet?

If I can't get tickets to Andrea Levy and William Boyd, I shall go anyway, just to chat and get my books signed! (Shameless book groupie that I am!)

Hello Lizzy and paddyjoe
I looked at the link Stewart gave and it gave the web address for the event. On that web address it mentions The Mitchell Library in Glasgow and gives an e mail address and a phone no. I tried it just now, but being a Sunday, there was no reply, so i e mailed them asking for tickets. The number given is 0141 287 2865. I won't be able to phone tomorrow or Tuesday as I'm in hospital from 9am - 6pm but I will try calling after Wednesday. I want to see Iain Banks, Andrea Levy and William Boyd. What an amazing line up! Good luck - let me know how you get on.
PS If several of us are going to any of these events, maybe we could meet up for a coffee? A mini BDO!

Yo, more progress. I called Hillhead library on Byres Rd and they gave me a number for tickets - 0871 230 9887
Tickets don't go on sale until tomorrow, you'll be pleased to hear. Eek, I'll have to try and wangle use of the ward phone to book mine.
The web site is www.ayewrite.com and the librarian I spoke to said tickets would also be available from there.
Hey, I'm looking forward to meeting up with the Scottish contingent at one of these events!
