Russell Brand
Still

Vampires
Clangers (But I'd rather have Bagpuss)
de Niro
WinterWhite
Amazon

Judi Dench

Russell Brand or Noel Fielding
- Fielding, I think, because he's even more one-trick, and will fade before Brand, so if we get rid of RB first we'll be rid of both sooner. Does that make sense?

Sparkling or Still
- Still. Sparkling just doesn't seem right.

Colour or B&W
- B&W
, every time. Way more evocative.

Vampires or Zombies
- Zombies
. There's something about their relentlessness.

Clangers or Ivor the Engine
- Ivor! How could it not be?

Pacino
or de Niro
- Pacino.
Almost impossible, but Pacino nicks it for the ending of Godfather 2.

Winter
or Spring
- Winter
. Cold and miserable, love it.

Red
or White
- Red.
White is for people who only think they like wine.

Amazon
or Play.com
- Play.com.
Cheaper (normally) and much much quicker.

Judi Dench or Maggie Smith
- Maggie Smith. Wonderful in everything and just fab in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

Russell Brand or Noel Fielding
- Russell Brand, just because I've enjoyed him on the radio in the past.

Sparkling or Still
- Still, mostly. But thanks are due for bringing it up, as it determined me to have a listen to one of the best tracks on Mark Knopfler's last album (I know, I know): The Fizzy and the Still

Colour or B&W
Colour, as rendered by Jack Cardiff

Vampires or Zombies
- Vampires

Clangers or Ivor the Engine
- Ivor (who could not love Jones the Steam?)

Pacino or de Niro
- Pacino. Hoo-arrr!

Winter or Spring
- Winter. Proper winters, that is, with crisp frost and vapour-breath and reddened cheeks and stamping in your boots and hugging yourself with gloved hands to try and keep warm.

Red or White
- White. Superior subtlety and fragrance, from the nuanced crispness of a Sauv Blanc to the buttery perfumed honeyness of a well-oaked Chardonnay
- or Red. Satisfying and robust, warm spiciness, chocolate and blackberries, a perfect drink for winter

Amazon or Play.com
- Amazon. Though I'm becoming fonder again of actual shops.

Judi Dench or Maggie Smith
- Judi Dench. Though I think I've allowed my head to be turned by completely falling in love with Cranford.

I will christen my second snow shovel the Oh no! It is waiting for you any time you have one of these strange spells of stamping and jumping around to keep warm.

This is what true film lovers always say, but how can this be? Is it simply because the viewer is able to conjure any color? In relation to, say, The Birds, would Tippi Hedren's suit be as effective if the viewer imagined it to be hot pink, rather than green matching the little caged birds? I'm just not convinced, but there's probably a thread here for black and white that I just haven't found!

I'm not sure about this. If asked to chose between seeing the world in black and white or colour for the rest of my life, I know which would would be my choice.

Black and white photographs may be prefererable, but only because you can be more selective in what you shoot and see. I prefer colour - it's harder.

Like this morning, minus three and thick thick frost over the fields and on the upper side of the tree branches as the dusky blue of pre-dawn gave way to a reluctant upward glow in the sky. Please please please can this continue over the next week!?

Sorry for reviving such an old thread

Russell Brand
or Noel Fielding
A real no brainer for me this. It's like asking, 'Jeremy Clarkson or David Attenborough'. Fielding knows it's all a joke Brand believes it's all true (ie Brand's a real cunt, not a pretend one).
Sparkling or Still
Sparkling. Still water is what comes out of taps.
Colour or B&W
Impossible question. Casablanca in colour? Black Narcissus in monochrome? Does not compute.
Vampires or Zombies
Vampires every day of the week. It's the difference between cats and dogs. Vampires are cats, sleek, sexy, nocturnal, and seductive. Zombies are dogs. Noisy, stupid and clumsy. Instead of decapitating the buggers - or whatever it is you are supposed to defeat them, I'm not up on my Zombie law - try just throwing a stick and yelling 'fetch'!
Clangers or Ivor the Engine
Clangers. Everyone likes Blue String Pudding.
Pacino or de Niro
I have no opinion whatsoever on this. I can't, off the top of my head, think of a single one of their films that I have seen.

A short visit to IMDb later and it turns out I have seen 2 Pacino films: Glengary Glenross and S1m0ne and I have seen two De Niro films: Brazil and The King of Comedy.
Great film that Glengary Glenross is - it is more than outweighed by the steaming turd that is S1m0ne. So De Niro.
Winter or Spring
Spring. Snowdrops. Primulas. Fecundity!
Red or White
I presume wine? If so then red. I've been dry for 6 years to the day - what I miss is red wine.
Amazon or Play.com
Play.com
Judi Dench or Maggie Smith
Maggie Smith for The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie if nothing else. Dench scuppered any chance with her totally misdelivered "A handbag?" line in the incredibly crap 2002 remake of The Importance of Being Earnest.

Have you never seen The Godfather then, JM?
