Default Awfully quiet on the Palimp

It has been awfully quiet on the Palimp recently...so, everyone tell us what you've been up to, instead. I'm going to guess that most people have been outside enjoying the lovely weather, so nobody has had time for Internet time.

I've been working odd, soul destroying shifts, trying to come up with a way to make a million in ten sensible, easily followed steps, and partying hard. All the while having a string of women parading through my house.

Could life be any sweeter? Maybe when i've made that million.

Great idea! Those who haven't been up to much could talk about their favourite shampoos, hemorroid medications, pedicure tips......Thinning hair anyone? Bunions? Wart remedies? Or how about PETS? - it's always so amusing to hear all about other people's pets, their adorable tricks and habits....
Or personal FANTASIES - that's a realm we haven't explored - thanks for the suggestion, yjmli.

I suppose I should answer my own question.

Let's see...instead of posting ever-so-clever things on the Palimp, I've been working, minding two children, desperately fighting my way through The Way We Live Now--at the end of Volume I now--chasing up two jobs in New York, and trying to track down a French bloke who could give me the job of my dreams at an American investment bank in London. So that's what I've been up to. Also, I've started reading Life of Pi after giving up on TWWLN--before ungiving up on it--and I've finally started work, again, on a long-neglected writing project, after some encouragement by Col and Amner. Thanks, Col and Amner.

Now, I might try to write up a review of all the hewing and cleaving in The Song of Roland, but we'll see if I manage or not.

Well, this coming Monday (24th) is apparently the most depressing day in the year [what tosh!] so perhaps we've been building up to it.

On the other hand, I've been distracted by real life, and am now half way through Money (a bit of a slog still) and about to disappear for the annual luxury 'reading/writing retreat from family' (2 ½ days for Mr. Col, 2 ½ days for me). Last time I read The Idiot - this time I might read Cloud Atlas.

On the other hand, if you want a review of Van Helsing (somebody else must be watching films out there in Palimpcity), I might attempt one later on (other than the obviously concise "this film was pants").

I've been very busy at work with end of semester reports, and preparation for OFTSTED inspection (a joy that any UK-based teacher will know well).

You had it coming, with your "string of women parading through my house". Braying like that is an invitation for somebody to needle you, if you didn't know that you're wiser now.
Instead of getting huffy, try laughing at yourself, it's a great feeling.

No actually. I've been out enjoying the absolutely filthy weather of snow blizzards in the Alps Actually, we had two incredible hot days with clear blue skies but it turned into blizzards overnight. Nothing like teetering on the edge of a precipice in your skis, not being able to see more than 20 metres in front. What a great week.

Subsequently I've only managed about 100 pages of my Murdoch and as for Hawksmoor, it's still in my tray at work.

"Braying"

What's the matter love? Do you take offence at me having a lot of women in my house? Or have you just got the painters in?
