Last week I visited the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. George Vanderbilt owned approximately 23,000 books and 10,000 are displayed in this library. Suffice to say, I could have stayed there for a very, very long time.

My GoodReads account of books topped 800 this week, after a charity shop visit. Some of them are no longer with me, but many non-fiction titles aren't listed. So let's say I have 800 now. Urgh!

I read an article that said his family had 7,000 off site somewhere and thousands of the others were scattered about the house. I guess when your house is 175,000 square feet, there's lots of little nooks and crannies.

My LibraryThing account tells me I now have a shade over 1500 (including 200 of Boyfriend's). Things are getting out of control now.

I actually have 85 less this week than I had last! This is the start of a major pruning exercise. I'm in pain but needs must.

Oh, I gave about 30 to a local school library. But the expected influx of new titles moving into payday...ah well, speaks for itself.

I think we have around 3000 but I'm afraid to count. I spent Thanksgiving weekend reorganizing and pruning; I boxed up about 100 to 150 to give away. We had a horrifying number of books stacked on the floor in our bedroom and in the living room.
