Re: Lloyd Jones: Mister Pip

I agree with you Ang. I thought it sagged slightly in the middle, but other than that, I thought it was a great book. I haven't read Mister Pip yet, though, and intend to rectify that soon.

Re: Cheltenham Booker Prize

This is where I admit to never having read 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. In fact, the only one from that list I *have* read is the Edna O'Brien, and I enjoyed it very much.

Re: The Palimpsest Hall of Fame

I'd be happy to give it a go, especially if it's Dickens. I have read David Copperfield, but not for about 10 years so would be more than happy to read it again. I've never read Our Mututal Friend or...

Re: Booker Prize 2010

David - I didn't not like 'Black Swan Green', if you know what I mean, I just preferred 'Cloud Atlas' et al. I think the only reason I want to read the new one is because it's by him, I'm not sure...

Re: Booker Prize 2010

I've capitulated and ordered 'Skippy Dies' and 'Trespass' on the basis that they are the two I most want to read out of that list. I already have a copy of 'The Long Song' that I've been meaning to...

Re: 2010 Palimplist Discussions

Re: Octavia Butler, I read one of her books - Fledgling - earlier this year. Now, from what I hear this isn't her finest, but I was ambivalent about it. On the one hand, it was a very quick read and...

Re: Colm Tóib*n

I loved Brooklyn, though I should probably add that this is the first novel by him that I've read (I've read some of the stories in Mothers and Sons, and liked them very much).

I was pleased with...

Re: Cool websites

The sub-heading is particularly accurate: "Make any webpage look like it was made by a 13 year old in 1996".

As ever I'm late to the party, but I too am firmly in the loved it camp too, for all the reasons that the other fans have mentioned in the thread. I was just bowled over by some of her turns of...

Re: Top 10 fictional cats

I particularly love Greebo from the Discworld books. He even has his own Wikipedia section (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flora_and_fauna_of_the_Discworld#Greebo).

The discussion is always open Ono, just add your thoughts whenever you've finished the book! It's just that we had the main bulk of the discussion yesterday - but anyone can join in as and when.
