Re: Most Hated Words

No-one commenting here has said anything other than that it is a derogatory and not-to-be-used term.

I have, very honestly, stated how my own son occasionally mis-uses this word (despite...

Re: Most Hated Words

Re: Most Hated Words

Re: Most Hated Words

'Spaz' is still being used by teenagers, rather weirdly since the word 'spastic' has totally dropped from all common usage, I would say.

The 'gay' thing is difficult. My son and his friends use...

Re: Most Hated Words

Yes, it seems to be commonly used in schools as an insult for 'uncool', or 'stupid'; but around where I live, kids are using 'random' to mean 'cool'. If something is random, it means it *is* random...

Re: Most Hated Words

In my head, I 'hear' university domain names as 'thingy- ay-cee', and I leave off the UK bit. Not that I would ever say it out loud, but when I see it written down, I hear it as 'cam ay-cee'.

*am...

Re: Most Hated Words

That's helped me to remember one of my hated words (perhaps I've already mentioned it) -

flapjacks - in the plural.

I make flapjack and eat flapjack and offer people a piece of flapjack, but...

Oh yes, when we got our bikes last week, the Halfords advert said "Up to 50% off all bikes" but ours had only a measly £1 off each.

Re: Most Hated Words
