Re: Doctor Who

Re: IMPAC shortlist 2014

I hope you think it's worth it! I get quite scared when people follow up on my reading recommendations. Just in case I'm actually a complete moron with no literary taste whatsoever or something.

Re: Recently Abandoned

With aid of skim-reading and gritted teeth, I made it to the end. Whoop!

Still stalling on...

Re: Recently Abandoned

I haven't actually abandoned Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch yet but I've been very tempted. It's a major downer of a story, so I often dread picking it up for fear of what depressing thing might happen...

Re: Bookaday - June 2014

Col, I've been following your Bookaday posts on Facebook and was part-way through Mansfield Park when you reached the 'old favourite' day. Your comment there about the richness and realness of the...

Re: IMPAC shortlist 2014

I've only read one of the ten: The Garden of Evening Mists. Absolutely beautiful, I thought, so the winner must be stunning.

My dignity is saved (if not my reputation for close reading). Thanks!

And thank you for the mini review. If I do read it anytime soon we can compare and contrast.

Re: Sherlock

I'm so disappointed with the first two episodes. The ball hasn't just been dropped, it's rolling away down a very bumpy hill and bouncing around all over the place.

I want to defend them. I...
