Empire Magazine's 10 Worst Films Ever

Empire magazine chooses the ten worst films of all time.

Here's the list:

1. Batman and Robin
2. Battlefield Earth
3. The Love Guru
4. Raise The Titanic
5. Epic Movie
6. Heaven's Gate
7. Sex Lives Of The Potato Men
8. The Happening
9. Highlander II: The Quickening
10. The Room

I've seen the first two and they were very bad, but worst ever? Battlefield Earth was comical enough that I was happy to keep watching. Batman and Robin contains the line "Holey rusted metal, Batman", about a piece of metal that was rusty and had holes in it. Well, I laughed.

I'm surprised by the presence of Heaven's Gate, which I've always understood to be an underrated classic.

Where are the films I couldn't even see through to the finish? Where's Beethoven's 2nd? Copland? Starsky and Hutch? Where are all the Leslie Neilson spoofs following the Naked Gun films?

Any films you think should have made the list?

I too am rather surprised by Heaven's Gate. I know Cimino imploded after The Deerhunter, but it's certainly in the 'interesting' box.

The Happening is right where it should be, mind. Piece of crap.

For me, I'd add Step Brothers and any of the Hollywood asian horror remakes. Also, an atrocious thing we saw on a recent Monster Night: The Alien Factor. If JM has never seen this (have you, JM? Have you?) it's a travesty.

What's The Room?

I'd concur about The Love Guru.

I've never seen Heaven's Gate but I want to because I, also, had the impression it was an under-rated classic these days. I would have thought the Empire bods would have been on that wavelength about it.

The status of Heaven's Gate depends entirely on who you ask. I'm not crazy about it myself, but no way is it among the ten worst movies ever made.

It is this.

I've never seen it myself, but I want to very much. Theater showings of it have apparently evolved, or devolved, into a kind of Rocky Horror audience participation event. No thank you to that part, but actually watching the movie, yes, that I can see doing.

I have! I have! I think so, anyway. I saw a movie with that same title many years ago on a late night creature feature show. I don't remember anything about it, other than that you could tell that script pages were plastered everywhere, so the actors could read their lines. Also, Captain 20 was in it.

Not sure bill, it's this anyway. The guy's familiar, I'll say that.

Why isn't Gran Torino on that list? I mean, I like Eastwood, but GT sucks, big time.
