The other day, while milling things over, my brain went in a direction it really didn't want to go in. I tried reeling it back but it was too late.
What IF ( and this is a huge if ) Bush's action in Iraq somehow does lead to peace in the Middle East ? How will history view his actions ? In this great span of being, we are only privy to a small amount of insight. Will history forgive the fact that this war was preemptive ? Will the fact that it was ill planned out, resulting in more violence, be forgotten ? If it takes decades to resolve itself, will it still be traced back to Bush ? If this war, however started, results in a change in Middle Eastern policies, Bush may very well go down in history as one of the great American Presidents (VERY scary thought that !)
Would it not be ironic if Clinton, sef-made man, very intellegent, very charismatic, a lover of history and a talented communicator, will be remembered as the guy who was "involved in that Monica thing". While Bush who, can't put two words together in the proper order, goofed off through school, ran several business into the ground and had a bit of a alcohol problem will be "one of the great thinkers of his time"
Like I said, this isn't where I wanted my mind to go. This is not a defense of Bush in any way shape or form. I am fundamentaly against violence and war. I long to see a "statesman" in office, someone well spoken, thoughtful and intellegent. I was just doing, what my husband tells me I do too much of............thinking.
