Be in on the ground floor for a new creative writing experiment/competition theGreenStory.co.uk (http://www.thegreenstory.co.uk/).

The site is set to become the home of a new and evolving on-line story, with members of the public competing to add a new chapter each month. There are adult, children and teenage categories and the competition will last for ten months / chapters. Each month budding new writers can submit their entries, which are then voted on by the public, and at the end of every month the winning entry becomes the next chapter, and once the story is complete it'll be published - on recycled paper, of course - ahem. So if you fancy your chances of appearing in print, getting involved in the 2008 National Year of Reading, or doing your bit for the environment then click on the link above and submit your entry.

Well, I'm definitely going to have a go. A 2000 word short story in effect, green-themed and open ended - sounds like fun!

EDIT: Aaaaand, I've got an idea...

I've got to say, with the greatest of respect for amateur writers, it doesn't look like the adult section poses much in the way of competition. The most recent entry, coming in about 1800 words under the 2000 word limit, manages to break the only other specific rule by being written in the first person...

AAAaaaAand, I think I'm going to skip it after all. Noble cause and all that, but I'm starting to warm to my idea and I don't think I want it finished by ten strangers, even if it WAS picked. Anyway, this (http://www.thegreenstory.co.uk/aread.asp?e=18) one seems like fun, crazy as it is.

I didn't enter in the end. I'm oping that the story I linked to gets picked though, because I'd love to write the next chapter. Did anyone feel the drive to get involved, or plan to vote?
