Some greats on this list too - I struggled to leave 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' off my list (further down this forum) - it will come across as preety girly (sorry, guys) but I cried so hard at the end of that, that the bed shook and woke up the husband.
Also J.D.Salinger - I'm a total Seymour Glass-addict. :D I did my Finals dissertation on the Glass family and 'The Way of a Pilgrim'.
'Snow Falling on Cedars' is on TV tonight - I know it's not a superb adaptation but we're recording it to watch later. The book is excellent.

I have to say, To Kill a Mockingbird is becoming the number 1 most popular choice for Palimpsest's top book.

Why do you think it is that to killing a mopckign bird is so populaur?
I assuem most of us read it at school and it may have been our first experience with "adult" litterature, but you acn connect with it either as a child or as a (I do use this term loosely with respect to my self )a "grown up" It is great, I will start on brighton rock when I finish my finals, I have just started graham greene he is my latest authour who I have just got into. if that makes sense

I think you're right about TKAMB, in that most people do it at school, and its probably the first book that they read which is really enjoyable, and when you have just reached an age when you can start appreciating these things.

As for starting Brighton Rock, do you want to join the book group? I'll add you to the list if you do.

Cheers
