A friend emailed me this list of winners in a make-your-own-words competition from the Washington Post's Style section (apologies if you've seen it already). They asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter only, and supply a new definition. (I particularly like 'sarchasm' myself.)

Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realise it was your money to start with.
Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.
Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (this one got extra credit)
Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious
bummer.
Glibido: All talk and no action.
Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an a**e.

I haven't thought up any of my own (can't be arsed, to tell the truth) but I'm sure you're not all as lazy as me. All contributions welcome!

Asquarium - tank used to keep oblongs and other polygons.
Chrustmas - the feeling that after a couple of weeks the Yuletide leftovers are no longer such an appealing prospect.

I think there was another one I thought of on the upper deck of the 55, but it can't have been that good, or I would have remembered it.

Crikey! That's a Cambridge education for you.

You can probably sell your neologism to Grayson Perry by the way.
