Interesting little news clip in yesterday's paper. Some hoop-a-la about the fact that those high fur hats are from Canadian bears.
How popular are those hats anyway ?

What high fur hats?
What news clip?
Who's Jeannie?
The only bears I know who have hats are Smokey and Paddington, and neither of them is Canadian.

Sorry R.C. that post was pretty vague. I posted last night after watching an out-of-sorts three year old for the day.
The fur hats are worn by "Footguards of the Household Diivision" of the British army. The type of hat has been worn for over 200 yrs.
Each hat costs about $1200 and can last 20 to 40 years through wind rain and sun. This durability has been the primary reason the hats have continued to be made from the pelts of black bears. Each year the army buys roughly 100 pelts.
One protester plans to follow Queen Elizabeth II in a bear costume when she visits Canada this week.
I just thought this was an interesting little story and I wondered if the rest of the world was prevy to this info or is this another article claiming a front section space in our newspapers so that we don't look too closely at the raising amount of deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan.
